Stamina Pattern Reference Guide

There are a variety of patterns step artists use in their stamina charts. Here is a list of some of the most frequently used ones.

Basic Patterns

Staircase

Right-facing: LDUR, RUDL

Left-facing: LUDR, RDUL

Candle

Any pattern that involves moving one foot across the centre panel from the up/down arrow to hit the down/up arrow.

The origin of the name is unknown, but it is said that if one were to put a candle in the middle of the platform, that candle would be knocked over.

Triangle

Three-note pattern with one repeating arrow.

Right-facing: LDL, RUR

Left-facing: LUL, RDR

Dorito

A pattern shaped like a Dorito when it faces right. Contains a double up and down.

Right-facing: LDUDL, RUDUR

Left-facing: LUDUL, RDUDR

Anchor

When one foot is “anchored” on three or more repeating arrows.

Sweep

A staircase that “sweeps” back in the direction it started from.

Advanced Patterns

Box

Four-note pattern with two alternating arrows.

Tower

A box longer than four notes.

Double Staircase

Two repeated staircases that lead and face the same way.

Alternating Staircase

Two repeated staircases that lead the same way but face the opposite way.

Luchi/Marunouchi

A five-note long anchor pattern containing a candle. The name originates from the chart “Marunouchi Surviver” by TYLR.

Zeta slide

A staircase ending with a candle that does not contain a double up/down. The name originates from Tachyon Zeta pack, which uses this pattern frequently in its charts.

Helicopter

Staircase + UD/DU + staircase.

Hipbreaker

Right facing dorito or triangle + left facing double up/down.

Spiral

A staircase ending in a triangle facing the other direction. Named after the chart “Spiral” written by Archi.

Turbo Candle

A staircase that starts and ends with a triangle.

Sweeping Candle

A sweep broken up by an up/down that candles.
